Cop Rests His Paw on His Pistol (Occupy Wall Street)
The headline is a tongue-in-cheek joke but seriously…a hand on the gun? I changed the original headline, which had illustrated my dark sense of humor. After realizing how serious it looked, I updated it to reflect the tone in which I meant it.
I really didn’t intend to make the cops look bad when I went to the Occupy Wall Street’s protest that was downtown. In fact, my goal was to show how silly this whole cops vs. protesters thing was and present some work that would exhibit people from different sides being together. The police did what they had to do based on what was coming in from the top. There were no altercations, from what I saw…
I noticed this police officer had his hand on his pistol so I ducked behind him (from a decent range) and debated on whether to take the picture because I knew what it would mean if I put this out there. But then I saw him keep his hand there…for a while. I took about 15-16 shots of this. He removed his hand once then put it back onto the pistol.
