Civil War Bonanza

I’m a huge history geek…especially American history. A quick trip through Richmond, Virginia should always be accompanied with visits to million battlefields outside of town. I went to three and had the great luck of having them all to myself since no one was around.

This is really the best way to get a grip on history — visit the sites where it happened. Walking through these fields chockful of eerie due to the devastation, the loss of life, and the tragedy that befell the men who risked it all for an ideal. I had my own mind battles when considering how many of these men died to protect slavery although many fought just because there were “invaders” in their land. Anyway, it brought the war home to the 21st century.

Here are a few of my favorite pics from the trip.
