My First Shoddy Attempt At HDR
Yeah I had to try it. This morning I got a copy of HDR EFEX Pro. I put my camera on a tripod, stuck the lens all the way out, and took some pictures of my neighbors’ building — nothing fancy.
HDR is an acronym for “High Dynamic Range.” Here’s the short version: When you take a picture, you’re capturing a single exposure. In high dynamic range photography, you’re stitching together several pictures (could be anywhere from 3 to whatever you want) of different exposure readings (1/3 f stops from underexposed to correctly exposed to overexposed). Once they’re all married together, your final image can look very beautiful but…
…this is what I got: A piece of shit, high dynamic range picture. Kidding aside, it was fun attempting a new technique. Now that my “test” shot is out of the way, I’m going to begin exploring this process further.
UPDATE: Here’s a link to my second attempt — more successful than this one.
